Puzzle & Dragons is a puzzle video game, which contains elements of RPGs, developed by GungHo Online Entertainment for the iOS, Android platforms. GungHo Online Entertainment merged the Korean company “Gravity”, and now it is hosting the Japanese server of Ragnarok Online, and Divine Gate for the iOS, Android platforms. Puzzle & Dragons is a very popular video game even in Korea, and the company “NeoCyon” is currently hosting the game in Korea. It’s basically free-to play, but some parts of it are pay-to play.

Puzzle & Dragons Illustrations Art Book is a hardcover book. It has 207 pages, and the size of it is 30.2 x 21.2 x 2.4 cm.

Puzzle & Dragons Illustrations Art Book was written in Japanese, since the game was developed in Japan. Unlike the other book, this art book doesn’t have the table of list. The 95% of the pages of this book consist of illustrations of characters, since this art book mainly contains of illustrations of characters, and the rest 5% of the pages consist of explanations about characters, 10 questions and answers to participating artists, and indexes and comments about characters. The art works of characters are being contained in irregular pattern, and they are basically complete illustrations, but some of them are rough sketches. Mentioning about rough sketches, they are also being contained in irregular pattern like, one sketch in a few pages, or four sketches in one page.

Concluding the review

I can’t recommend people to purchase this art book, who also want to appreciate the art works of other contents, since this art book only contains the illustrations of characters of the game. Still there are comments of participating artists, and questions & answers to them so it would be worth to buy it if you want to read those. Bottom line, this art book is a good reference for developing artists who are interested in designing characters, since it mainly contains the illustrations of characters.
