Takehito Harada is known as a Japanese illustrator who drew illustrations of two games from a Japanese game company Nippon Ichi Software, ’Disgaea’ series and ’Phantom Brave’ series. So far, there have been three volumes of the Takehito Harada Art Works series, and today I’ll review the first volume of the series.
Standard Book Size
Takehito Harada Art Works 1 is a paperback book. It has 207 pages, and the size of it is 21.2 x 29.6 x 1.8cm.
Language & Table of Contents
It was written in Japanese. The portion of texts in this book is not high except comments about each of illustrations written at the latter part of the book, so you might not have a problem with enjoying the illustrations in this book. Although there is no table of contents, each of illustrations from the games, which were drawn by the author, is being contained in order of release dates of the games.
Components
This book mainly consists of illustrations of the games of Nippon Ichi Software. You can enjoy the illustrations of the games in order, Disgaea series, Prinney series, Phantom Brave series, and lastly illustrations of Nippon Ichi Software. FIY, the illustrations of Disgaea series comprise the most pages of the book. The categories of the illustrations in this book are main illustrations, 4-panel images, and 10-panel images. Those two kinds of panel images feature the drawing process of each of main illustrations. Not every illustration shows its panel images, but most of the illustrations cover its panel images.
Concluding the review
Today I’ve reviewed the Takehito Harada Art Works 1. As I mentioned above, this book contains the illustrations of the games from Nippon Ichi Software, so you can enjoy many illustrations of several different games at a time. And also each of illustrations shows its panel images, so you can use them as reference to draw the similar artworks. The thing is that the illustrations of Disgaea series comprise the most pages of the book, so the amounts of illustrations of the other games are a bit scanty. Therefore, if you already have any artbook of Disgaea series, you might need to contemplate before purchasing this book.
