Summos Board is a turn-based Japanese RPG board game, which was developed by GunHo Online Entertainment for the iOS and Android platforms. Since this game was developed by the company where the Puzzle & Dragons was developed, one of the popular Japanese games, the designs of characters of this game are quite similar to the Puzzle & Dragons.

Standard Book Size

Summons Board Illustrations is a paperback book. It has 400 pages, and the size of it is 21.1 x 29.8 x 3.1cm.

Language & Contents

It was written in Japanese. There are only a few texts except the names of characters. And also at the latter part of the book, there’s an interview of the producer and comments about illustrations, so you might need to put an effort to translate those if you want to know what those mean. The table of contents consists of two chapters, ‘Monster Illustrations’ and ‘Creation’. The first chapter is divided into monsters of several different natural elements and other characters. The second chapter contains rough sketches, an interview of the producer, and comments about artworks of twenty-nine illustrators.

Components

The illustrations of monsters, which are the main contents of the book, are divided into several types of natural elements as I mentioned above. Each of element parts shows its monsters’ names before featuring the illustrations. Each of element parts covers its main illustrations and game images. A size of game images is pretty small since those images are from the mobile game. The contents of monster illustrations comprise the most of the contents of the book since 360 out of 400 pages of the book are about illustrations of monsters. On the other hand, the second chapter comprises only 40 out of 400 pages of the book, and only the half of pages feature rough sketches.

Concluding the review

Today I’ve reviewed the Summons Board Illustrations. The illustrations in this book are pretty similar with the illustrations of ‘Puzzle & Dragons’ since both of the two games were developed by the same company. Although there have been three volumes of Puzzle & Dragons Illustraion Art Book series, contents of each volume is a bit poor. However, this artbook has 400 pages, and there are a plenty of illustrations. Therefore, this book might be a good reference to draw creative illustrations.
