The daily zoo: year two by Chris Ayers
The Daily Zoo: Year Two is an artbook, which consists of cartoon style illustrations of animals, drawn by Chris Ayers while he had been struggling against leukemia. Just like the first volume contained the artworks drawn for one year, the second volume contains one year’s artworks, drawn after one year from the period.
Standard Book Size
The Daily Zoo: Year Two is a paperback book. It has 159pages, and the size of it is 20.5 x 20.4 x 1.6cm.
Language & Contents
It was written in English, and since there are comments of the author, I recommend you to read both comments and artworks. The contents of the book features an introduction first, and after, that there are two main categories. First category covers the artworks and explanations about them in order of months, and the second category shows the three sixty-five calendar form artworks in a small size, and the book ends.
Artworks From April to March
Since the first volume was finished on April, the second volume shows the artworks and the stories of them, which were created from April to March. FYI, this book shows the artworks in order of months, but not in order of days of each of months in order so the book covers the day numbers of the artworks in random order except the numbers of months, and also the portion of explanations in the first category is high so not all of three sixty-five artworks are being contained in the first category. The artworks in this book are mainly color and monochrome, and there are not only animal arts but also bird arts and insect arts. Every artwork is a cartoon style, and there are artworks of single animal characters, and some artworks, which feature not only characters but also certain circumstances and some directed scenes so you can enjoy the artworks really joyfully.
Year Two in Review
The first volume mainly features both artworks and explanations, and the second volume mainly covers the artworks. This book contains three sixty-five artworks, and in every two pages, there are twenty-one calendar form artworks. At the bottom of each of the artworks, there’s a title, a date, and a place where it was drawn. Since there are the artworks drawn for one year, every artwork is being contained in a small size.
Concluding the review
Today I’ve reviewed The Daily Zoo: Year Two. I was really impressed with the author’s willpower and passion since he drew the three sixty-five cartoon style artworks even he had been fighting against his disease. This book is worth as a good reference to draw caricatures since the pattern of the contents of the second volume is the same as the first volume. Therefore, if you have just one of two volumes, that might be really helpful to you to draw caricatures.
