.hack//G.U. Perfect Official Works: .hack//Archives_02 Black contains the contents of .hack//G.U., a second series of .hack series developed by CyberConnect 2 for the PlayStation 2. .hack//G.U. series was completed with three installments, and the book that I’ll review today features concept arts of characters from the third installment of .hack//G.U. series.

.hack//G.U. Perfect Official Works: .hack//Archives_02 Black is a hardcover book. It has 303 pages, and the size of it is 21.6 x 31.2 x 3cm.

Language & Contents

It was written in Japanese, and the portion of texts in this book is not high since most of texts are about names of characters. Since the table of contents is subdivided, to summarize it simply, it consists of concept arts of eight main characters including a protagonist, supporting characters and extra characters, storyboards of characters, illustrations and monochrome concept arts of characters.

Components

There are no concept arts of backgrounds of the game since the main contents of this book are focused on the characters. Mentioning about the concept arts of characters, each of concept arts of characters shows its image in pages in color and monochrome pages. Most of concept arts are in color, and the concept arts of the protagonist comprise the most pages of the book, followed by seven main characters, supporting characters, and extra characters. Each character shows its complete illustrations, rough sketches, and weapons. Likewise, the monochrome pages cover the concept arts of character, but those are lesser than the pages in color.

Concluding the review

Today I’ve reviewed .hack//G.U. Perfect Official Works: .hack//Archives_02 Black, and I think this book has a plenty of contents since it contains the concept arts of all of the characters from one to three installments of .hack//G.U. Only one thing that’s a shame is this book doesn’t have the concept arts of backgrounds of the game since .hack//G.U. Perfect Official Works: .hack//Archives_02 White has the concept arts of background of the game. Some of you might be disappointed with the fact that you need to purchase the White if you want to see the concept arts of backgrounds of the game.
