Gardener 10th Book by Michael Lau
Michael Lau who is one the first generation artists of ‘Toy Arts’ is famous to people who are interested in toy arts not only in foreign countries but also in Korea. In 2013, he was once introduced in Korea with his exhibition. The book I’ll review today contains the artworks of Gardener series, created by Michael from 1999 through 2009.
Standard Book Size
Gardener 10th Book by Michael Lau is a hardcover book. It has 240pages, and the size of it is 23.5 x 37.5 x 2.5cm.
Language & Contents
Although it was written in English, texts are not important in book to read. The contents of the book features not only images of Gardener figures but also some sketches and pictures of his working environment and exhibitions.
Components
There are three categories of the contents. First category mainly covers idea sketches and design sketches drawn by Michael. Second category shows the images of Gardener figures, and it mainly features the front images of the figures. Third category features the contents of his exhibitions and collaboration artworks. There is a one to one ratio of figure images, sketch images to other images so people who wanted to enjoy only figures might be disappointed with this book.
Concluding the review
Today I’ve reviewed the Gardener 10th Book by Michael Lau. Since this book contains the result of ten years’ labor of Michael, who is famous for toy arts, this book is not only worth to purchase but also to people who are interested in toy arts. Although the best way to enjoy his artworks is visiting his exhibitions, but enjoying them via his books might also be a good idea I believe.
