The Grand Tour series is a picture book, which contains famous architectures in the world, published by Taschen. Every picture in this book is taken by Architect Harry Seidler. He had travelled through the whole world for fifty years, and taken the pictures of great architectures from B.C 3000 to present time. The original edition is a hardcover book, and today’s book for review is a special price edition, which was published for celebrating 25th anniversary of the book series.

This book shows the pictures of architectures in order of countries, and there are comments on every page of each of countries. There are pictures of architectures of each of countries from ancient time to present time, and also are names of architectures, years of construction, and explanations about them. Some pictures of architectures are front images, which were taken to help readers understand the structures of them easily and also have explanations. There are some different types of images, for example one picture across two pages, and one picture across four pages. You can enjoy plenty of pictures of architectures of over 30 countries in over 500 pages.

The Grand Tour series is an informative book to people who need information of architectures, since it contains plenty of pictures of famous architectures of the world for a small size book. This book also contains the names of architectures, years of construction, and detailed explanations about them, so you could consider this book as a dictionary of architecture, since you can find detailed information of architectures from this book. It’d be better if the book was bigger, so you could enjoy the pictures more in detail. Still though, this book series is worth as a good material on architectures.
