The Review of CANNABIS WORKS 2 by Tanaka Tatsuyuki

CANNABIS WORKS 2 by Tanaka Tatsuyuki

The second volume of Cannabis Works series, which is a collection of artworks of Tanaka Tatsuyuki, was published. He is a renowned Japanese animator and illustrator, and since this artbook contains the artworks of the author drawn from 2003 to 2016, I think this book might be interesting enough to fascinate you.

Standard Book Size

Cannabis Works 2 is a hardcover book. It has 160 pages, and the size of it is 26.7 x 19.2 x 2.4cm. The ISBN of it is 978-4835453439.

Language & Table of Contents

It was written in Japanese, and the portion of texts in this book is not high, except there are the titles written at the bottom of each of illustrations, information about each of illustrations, and dates of each of illustrations. There’s no table of contents, and except the afterword, there’s no index of illustrations, so you just enjoy the illustrations in this book.

Components

Although there’s no table of contents, I classified the illustrations in this book into some categories, books, magazines, CD covers, weapon designs in the movie ‘Gantz’, character designs from ‘A Farewell to Weapons’, which is one of four episodes of the animated film ‘Short Peace’, unused illustrations, and rough sketches of ‘Vistor’. To put it simply, there are mainly two types of artworks in this book, complete illustrations, character designs and/ or sketches. The components of illustrations of those two types are similar, and the quality of artworks in book is quite substantial.

Concluding the Review

Today I’ve reviewed the Cannabis Works 2 by Tanaka Tatsuyuki. Since the first volume of the series was a big success in Korea, many Koreans looked forward to the release of the second volume of the series. In comparison with the first volume, the contents of the second volume is as substantial as the first volume, and also there’s no duplicated contents from the first volume in the second volume, so this artbook might be worth to collect even if you already have the first volume of the series. As I mentioned above, there are only a few texts in this artbook, but there’s news that the Korean edition will be published soon, so it might be good to wait until the release of it and purchase it since the Korean edition is cheaper.
