Groundworks of Kung Fu Cooking Girls OVA Art Book contains the contents and groundworks of Kung Fu Cooking Girls OVA, which was developed by Chinese company ‘Wolf Smoke Studio’. This company once participated in developing a 2D trailer movie of ‘Asura Online’, which is one of the best games in China, with Korean company ‘Studio Mir’. I believe that Kung Fu Cooking Girls is the most famous major work of Wolf Smoke Studio, since it was pretty decent enough to please me, even though it’s a short anime. Standard Book Size
Groundworks of Kung Fu Cooking Girls OVA Art is a paperback book. It has 206 pages, and the size of it is 18.5 x 26 x 1.8 cm. As an extra component, there is an appendix CD.
Appendix CD
Appendix CD contains two short animes in 720p, ‘Full of Cats’, and ‘Little Big War’, which was developed by Wolf Smoke Studio, and also there is a FLA file containing the contents of making processes of those and interview of staffs.
Language & Table of List
It was written in Chinese. This art book contains 80 groundworks, since it’s a groundwork art book. There are no explanations about them, so you might need to watch the anime to understand them just I mentioned above. There’s no table of list actually, but if you insist to know, this art book consists of three parts, ‘Work Process Schedule and Character Setting’, ‘Groundwork’, and ‘Making Process and Postscript’.
Work Process Schedule and Character Setting
This part starts with an illustration of Kung Fu Cooking Girls and introduction. It features a work process schedule, character setting, and designs of street stalls. The illustrations of street stalls and characters of the anime are in color, and also there are detailed explanations about making process and illustrations, so you might need to translate the explanations, if you are interested in the making process of the anime.
Groundwork
This part is the most important part in this art book, since it comprises the 70 percent of the pages of the book. This part shows some of storyboards of the anime in three pages, and then features the groundworks of the anime. Each of groundworks has scene number. You can enjoy the groundworks in black only, and unlike the other parts, only the book pages of this part were made with drawing papers.
Making Process and Postscript
This part features some of the making process of the anime with the explanations and images. It also features a program to make the anime, editor cuts, still cuts, and lastly, the postscript. This part also needs to be translated to understand, since it covers the making process and postscript, so there are many explanations of about them.
Concluding the review
You might think that this book doesn’t feature many contents, since it mainly covers the groundworks of Kung Fu Cooking Girls OVA, which has 9 minutes duration. But actually, this book contains many contents of the anime, even though the anime has a short duration. You might also think there are many explanations for an art book, but as I mentioned above, this book was published for showing the making process of the anime, so you should understand that many explanations are essential in this book. Bottom line, if you are a person who likes Kung Fu Cooking Girls OVA, or an animation producer, this art book might be worth to purchase though you need to translate the book.
