The Review of THE ART OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT MISTS OF PANDARIA

THE ART OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT MISTS OF PANDARIA

THE ART OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT MISTS OF PANDARIA is an art book, which features the contents of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, the fourth expansion set for the MMORPG World of Warcraft developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

Standard Book Size

THE ART OF WORLD OF WARCRAFT MISTS OF PANDARIA is a hardcover book. It has 208 pages, and the size of it is 10.4 x 8.7 x 0.8 inches.

Language & Table of List

It was written in English, and there are explanations about each chapter and parts of each chapter. The table of list consists of three chapters, ‘A NEW WORLD’, ‘ALLIES AND ENEMIES’, and ‘EQUIPMENT’. At the end of the book, there are staff credits and a list of artists, who participated in developing World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria.

A NEW WORLD

This chapter comprises the half of pages of book, and it consists of eight parts. First part features the concept arts of cinematic scenes briefly, and the rest seven parts feature the concept arts of backgrounds. Those seven parts contain plenty of concept arts of natures, and buildings. The concept arts consist of 2D sketches, and color arts. However, there are no 3D modeling images in this chapter.

ALLIES AND ENEMIES

This chapter features about a new race, the panderen. This chapter consists of six parts. One to five parts show the concept arts of Panderen, and the six part features the concept arts of the other races. The concept arts of this chapter consist of color arts, sketches, and 2D arts. Just like the first chapter, there are no 3D modeling images in this chapter.

EQUIPMENT

‘EQUIPMENT’ chapter, the final chapter of this book has the least pages of three chapters, since it only features about the equipment so that’s why. This chapter shows the concept arts of new equipment, and those concept arts consist of 2D color arts, and sketches. At the last two pages of the book, there is a map, which features the land of Pandaria, and the book ends.

Concluding the review

So far, I have explained about the art book, which features the contents of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, the fourth expansion set for WOW. Unlike the illustrations from other WOW art book series, the artworks of this art book exude a traditional oriental atmosphere. Looks like Blizzard Entertainment referred to oriental characters and buildings to draw them with its own style. Evaluating the three most interesting kinds of artworks, artworks of backgrounds are the most interesting, artworks of characters are the second most, and lastly the artworks of equipment. Namely, the artworks of backgrounds and characters are pretty decent. On the other hand, some people might be disappointed at the fact that though this art book features the contents about World of Warcraft, which is a 3D MMORPG, it doesn’t contain any 3D modeling images. Bottom line, I recommend this art book to people who like to enjoy oriental characters and buildings of Blizzard Entertainment style
